Hardware

Lock brands we stock & service

Our vans carry the hardware inner-north doors actually take, so most replacements and upgrades finish in a single visit instead of waiting on a parts order.

Brand by brand

Lockwood
The default across Victorian housing. We carry 001 and 002 deadlatches, Symmetry and Nexion cylinders, and the 8654 series for aluminium doors, so a matching replacement usually comes straight off the van.
Whitco
Security-door and window hardware found on almost every inner-north sliding door and flyscreen. Tasman MK2 locks, sliding window latches and patio bolts are stocked items for us.
Assa Abloy
Commercial-grade cylinders, electric strikes and door closers. We service Assa hardware on shopfronts, offices and apartment common doors and can key it into a restricted system.
Kaba / dormakaba
Restricted key systems, master-keyed suites and access hardware for buildings and strata. We can extend an existing suite rather than starting from scratch where the register allows.
Yale
Entrance sets, digital deadbolts and smart locks. We install and repair Yale keypad and Bluetooth models and handle the door prep properly so the strike lines up.
Gainsborough
Entrance handle sets and trim widely used in 1970s–1990s brick homes across Northcote, Thornbury and Kew. Replacement furniture and cylinder swaps are routine work.
Carbine
Value deadbolts, sliding door locks and padlocks. Good hardware when it's fitted correctly, and we key it to your existing set where possible.
Abloy & high-security cylinders
Where a door needs genuine attack resistance — sensitive commercial premises, safes, plant rooms — we specify and supply high-security, patented-key cylinders.
Bilock & restricted profiles
Australian-made twin-pin cylinders with strong key control. A good upgrade when keys have gone missing and you want copying locked down.
Chubb, CMI & safe brands
Domestic and commercial safes: keypad faults, dead batteries, lost combinations and lock replacement, opened non-destructively wherever possible.

FAQ

Hardware questions

Do I have to replace a whole lock, or just the cylinder?
Usually just the cylinder. Most Lockwood, Carbine and Assa Abloy locks let us swap the barrel and key it to your existing set, which costs far less than new hardware and leaves the door untouched.
Can you match new locks to my existing key?
Yes — provided the profile allows it, we key new locks to your current key so you don't end up with a keyring full of near-identical keys. If your locks are mismatched already, one visit can bring them all onto a single key.
Are smart locks worth it?
They're excellent for rentals, shared houses and short-stay properties where key handover is the real problem. We fit them alongside a compliant mechanical deadlock rather than instead of one, so a flat battery never becomes a lockout.
Which locks meet Australian Standards for insurance?
Insurers generally look for a keyed deadlock on external doors and key-operated locks on accessible windows. Fully licensed & insured Victorian locksmiths — we fit AS-compliant hardware and provide an invoice listing exactly what was installed.
Can you service a brand you don't list here?
Almost certainly. Call (03) 7057 3042 with the name stamped on the faceplate or key and we'll tell you straight away whether we carry it or need to order a part.

Not sure what's on your door?

Read the name off the faceplate or send us the suburb and door type over the phone — (03) 7057 3042, 24 hours, 7 days. Costs are set out in our locksmith price guide.
